Visa Photo Requirements
High quality photos are essential for use in biometric documents. It is essential to comply with these requirements so you can prepare your photo for the visa as accurately as possible and avoid unnecessary delays.
Generally your visa photos must be 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm). The photo should be positioned so that the head is between 1 and 1 3/8 inches (22 mm and 35 mm), or 50% to 69% of the image’s total height from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head. The photo should be in color.
Visa Photo Format
When taking the photo for a visa, make sure that your face takes 70 to 80 percent of the whole photo. This usually corresponds to a height of 32–36 mm. If your face measures less than 27 mm or more than 40 mm, the photo may be rejected.
Visa Photo Focus
Your photo must have sharp focus, be clear and have proper contrast. Make sure the photo is not blurred, too light, too dark or lacking contrast.
Visa Photo Lighting
Take your photo with even lighting. It should not be too dark or too light. Shadows across the face, flash reflections and red eyes should be avoided.
Visa Photo Quality
The photo must be printed on high-quality paper with a print resolution of at least 600 dpi, especially when taken with a digital camera. Your photo must be clean, with natural colors, not pixelated and not damaged.
