- 1. Local Guide Sal is warm, flat and is perfect for sunbathing, relaxing and good food! If you are looking for nature (you know the green stuff that surrounds us) then choose an other island. I am happy with my 7 days there, but next time I will try Santiago (also Cap Verde) because it’s green, got a beautiful market and is still warm
- 2. Beautiful place with beautiful people Beautiful place with beautiful people. Don’t expect that you will explore the island for a week. One day is enough! But the calmnes and hapinnes of this island is so relaxing that you can rest from the noise of the big city. Love it :)
- 3. Beautiful island. Beautiful island. The people are very nice! Rent a quad and drive around in the desert, hang out with the locals, go to Sharkbay to see baby sharks, the salt mines and etc.
- 4. One of the most popular islands of archipelago Cape Verde
- 5. One of the most popular islands of archipelago Cape Verde and also one of the most dry. Desert most everywhere. Perfect kiting and surfing opportunities. Good diving, fishing and nice selection of seafood and fish like tuna and blue marlin, wahoo, serra etc. Connected with many European countries via air.
- 6. Small island, very welcoming.Small island, very welcoming. Small airport however lovely beaches and very friendly people. Very relaxing holiday ‘no stress’
- 7. One of the most beautiful islands suitable for a getaway in Cabo Verde. One of the most beautiful islands suitable for a getaway in Cabo Verde. It is very welcoming to tourists and also provides a lot of beach options for you to relax. Hotel rates are also very fair and I think that you can have a good time out alone, with your spouse or even with kids. I was at Hotel Sol Dúnas and it had a space for kids to play around, pool for kids and many engaging activities for them and so I think that it will be a very good choice for even parents to take their kids along too even for a vacation. The airport reception was also very stress free and in all, I recommend this island for a good time out
- 8. One of 10 islands of Cape Verde Cards accepted in a lot of places, Euros also accepted with their local currency-Escudos Portuguese is their Lingua Franca, however several locals speak English, French, Italian
- 9. Sal is part of Cape Verde, Sal is part of Cape Verde, a group of 10 islands sprinkled off the west coast of Africa. They’re relatively unknown in the mainstream market and, thanks to their location, they’re a unique melting pot of cultures. The islands were originally discovered by the Portuguese, and there’s also a mixture of African and Brazilian influences. You’ll see it in the island’s music, fashion and, perhaps most obviously, in the food.
- 10. Absolutely love this place Absolutely love this place, we have been twice now, once in 2015 and we returned in 2018 for our honeymoon. In the 3 year between our trip this island has been developed somewhat. The beaches are fantastic, yes it is windy here but not to the point that it will effect any activities you plan to do. I must recommend hiring a quad for the day, one day is enough to see all the attractions. I would do this rather than the excursions that are offered. We saw a lot of people on these trips and they just seem to rush the excursions whereas with hiring the quad you can do things at your own pace. If you are heading into Santa Maria beware of the local traders, they will try and to get you into their shop but if you just politely say no thanks they will leave you alone, also they will try telling you that they work in you hotel, again this is them trying to get you into their shop. The airport on your return is quiet basic, and for any smokers they will not allow you to take lighters through to departures, there is a nice lady that works in a little shop in the courtyard that will happily give you a light. In all a great place to go and relax. I would highly recommend here.
- 11. Great place to be eat drink and relax. Great place to be eat drink and relax. No stress, local saying and true. Except for the beach sellers but two No,s and they will leave you alone.
