YES

Visa-required travelers

VOA

Visa-on-arrival eligible nationals

These travelers may apply online or obtain visa at an official entry point, but eVisa is recommended.

How to Apply and Pay for Tanzania Visa

Use a clean, consistent application to avoid delays. Check nationality first, then choose the right visa type.

Check nationality category

Identify whether your passport is visa-free, eVisa/VOA, or referral/special clearance.

Choose correct visa type

Select ordinary, multiple, business, transit, student or other category. Wrong visa type can lead to rejection.

Prepare documents

Passport valid at least six months, unused visa page, photo, return/onward ticket, itinerary, hotel/invitation and special documents where required.

Submit online and pay

Complete the official online form, upload documents and pay by Visa or Mastercard where available.

Wait for grant notice

Track the status online. Do not travel before approval where approval is required, especially for referral cases.

Airports, Zanzibar, Overland Entry and Travel Planning

Entry clearance is made by immigration officers at the point of entry. A Visa Grant Notice is not the final authority to enter Tanzania.

AIR

Airports

Major entry points include Julius Nyerere International Airport, Kilimanjaro International Airport and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar.

ZNZ

Zanzibar

Travelers visiting both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar should select their first destination on the visa form; one approved Tanzania visa can cover both.

LAND

Overland entry

Carry printed visa approval, passport, hotel or invitation, return/onward ticket and health documents where required. Land borders can take longer.
