Travel visa and eVisa application preparation for Africa

Search the visa or eVisa route that fits your trip

This tool creates a preparation route, not an approval decision. Current requirements depend on nationality, destination, passport type, travel purpose and itinerary.

What a travel visa actually does

A visa is an authorization connected to a defined purpose, destination and period. It is not the same as a passport, and it does not always guarantee admission at the border.

Visa

May be issued electronically or placed in a passport. The destination decides who needs it and which category applies.

eVisa

An electronic visa applied for online. You normally submit passport data and supporting documents digitally and receive an electronic approval or visa record.

eTA / travel authorization

A pre-travel authorization used by some destinations instead of a traditional visa for eligible visitors. It is a separate legal route and should not simply be called an eVisa.

Choose the route before preparing documents

  • Visa-free or exemption route.
  • Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
  • Tourist, business or transit eVisa.
  • Online pre-visa or referral approval.
  • Visa on arrival where the passport and entry point qualify.
  • Embassy or consular visa.
  • Work, study or residence authorization for long-stay activities.

Purpose matters more than the word “tourist”

A tourism exemption cannot automatically be used for paid work, technical assignments, employment, study or residence. Business meetings may also have their own visa category even when leisure tourists of the same nationality are exempt.

Use the travel purpose you will actually carry out, not the route that appears easiest.

How to apply for an Africa visa or eVisa

A careful application starts before the form is opened.

1. Confirm eligibility

Check nationality, passport type, destination, purpose, stay length and entry point.

2. Verify the official channel

Confirm the government, immigration or diplomatic portal before uploading personal data or paying.

3. Prepare matching documents

Your passport, dates, accommodation, invitation, employer letter and itinerary should tell one consistent story.

4. Submit and pay carefully

Review names, passport number, expiry date, attachments, fee currency and payment recipient before submission.

5. Save proof

Keep the application reference, receipt and approval in both digital and printed form where practical.

6. Recheck before travel

Verify that the visa route, passport, travel dates, airline documents and health requirements still match the trip.

Frequently asked visa and eVisa questions

Is an eVisa the same as a visa?

An eVisa is a visa issued through an electronic application and approval process. The exact legal effect and entry conditions are set by the destination.

Does an approved visa guarantee entry?

No. Immigration officers may still verify documents and admission conditions at the border.

Can I use a tourist visa for business or work?

Not automatically. Use the category that matches the actual activity. Employment, technical work, study and residence commonly require separate permission.

How can I avoid fake eVisa websites?

Verify the domain against the destination immigration authority, foreign ministry or AfricaTourVisa official-visa-websites directory before entering passport or payment data.

What does AfricaTourVisa do?

AfricaTourVisa provides independent visa and travel information and may assist travelers with application preparation. It is not an immigration authority and cannot issue or guarantee a visa.
