Accessible Tourism
Plan accessible African travel by checking information, transport, accommodation, attractions, communication, support and emergency arrangements.
Read the accessible tourism guideDefinitions with practical use
Tourism types are useful when they clarify motivation, activity and impact. They become confusing when every niche is treated as a separate product or when a label replaces practical planning.
Classification
A trip can be classified by motivation, setting, activity, transport, season or social purpose. Wildlife tourism describes the focus; cruise tourism describes a transport and accommodation model; winter tourism describes timing and climate.
Categories overlap. The useful question is not which single box fits, but which risks, permissions, hosts and impacts need attention.

Emerging models
A search label deserves a separate guide only when it creates distinct traveler questions and can support useful original evidence. This rebuild consolidates thin legacy topics rather than publishing one repeated definition under many names.
Film tourism, volunteer tourism and wellness tourism remain because each has specific access, safety or ethical decisions. Recession tourism and niche tourism return to this directory because their old pages did not serve a clear independent intent.
Questions travelers ask
Yes. A conference trip may include heritage, culinary or nature experiences; the labels describe motivations and activities, not sealed categories.
No. Ecotourism adds conservation, education and community principles to nature-based travel.
No label guarantees sustainability. Transport, governance, labor, visitor behavior and destination limits must be assessed.
