Official extension position reviewed for Uganda

Electronic visa and permit extension route published by Uganda Immigration.

A current valid visa or permit issued through the Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit system can be extended through the official extension function. Separate visitor-pass routes may apply for fee-nil or non-visa-prone nationalities.

Where and how to apply

Use “Extend your application” in the Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit system or the dedicated visitor-pass extension service, depending on status.

Responsible authority: Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit System.

Application timing and lawful stay

Submit before the current visa expires. The official extension service warns that late submissions can result in fines and penalties.

Important: Submission does not necessarily authorize continued stay after the current permission expires unless the authority confirms the legal effect of the receipt or pending application.

Documents identified by official sources

  • Original application ID
  • Passport number used for the original application
  • Date of birth
  • Additional documents requested for the status category

The authority may request additional evidence based on nationality, purpose, sponsor, or immigration category.

Visa validity, permission, and status category

Check the entry stamp, visitor pass, permit, or electronic immigration record that sets the authorized stay. Work, study, residence, and dependant statuses normally use category-specific renewal procedures rather than a tourist extension.
