Official extension position reviewed for Kenya
Visitor-pass extension published by the Directorate of Immigration Services.
A foreign national holding a visitor’s pass may apply to extend the stay, up to a maximum cumulative stay of six months.
Where and how to apply
Online through the Foreign Nationals Services (eFNS) portal; the official information pack identifies Form 22.
Responsible authority: Kenya ETA.
Application timing and lawful stay
Apply before the visitor’s pass expires. Kenya’s traveler obligations warn that overstaying without approval can lead to penalties, fines, or deportation.
Documents identified by official sources
- Online application and generated Form 22
- Passport and current visitor-pass or entry record
- Supporting records requested in the eFNS information pack
The authority may request additional evidence based on nationality, purpose, sponsor, or immigration category.
Visa validity, permission, and status category
Check the entry stamp, visitor pass, permit, or electronic immigration record that sets the authorized stay. Work, study, residence, and dependant statuses normally use category-specific renewal procedures rather than a tourist extension.
